Hey guys , new Corvette buyer here.

What's is the groups opinion on the best source of 69-75 prices. I see prices all over the spectrum and would like input.

Thanks

Bob

Price depends on a heck of a lot of factors. Year, coupe vs vert, condition, engine, transmission, mileage, numbers matching, even color. What you'll find is the '69-'72's demanding the most $$$ (especially the verts), with the biggest engine/highest hp cars at the upper end. These are the bumper car years - '68 - '72. Location can also be a factor, and many on this board recommend you get a feel for pricing by watching ebay, or websites such as http://www.corvetteclassified.com/

Good luck in your search. - John

If you can aford it stay with the metal bumper year's. As stated above go for high horse power even if it is a small block h.p. makes a differance.Definately go for a numbers matching car that is original, that is very important. Red is by far the most popular color. And a roadster will be worth 7-10 k more than a similar coupe. These cars are going up in price very fast. I would suggest buying the very best that you can afford and then latter down the road if you take care of it you can always swap up if you want to and it won't be so painful.Hope this help's TLS

welcome to CAC.
you also might want to check out the latest copy of hemmings motor news or old cars weekly in addition to looking at ebay and various internet sites. the publications will have "dealer" ads in addition to private party ads. you might also want to look at the web sites for the barrett jackson auction and the r.m. auction companies. i believe both have a historic listing of past events and the prices paid. over the past couple of years, it seems that barrett jackson has increased, percentage wise, the number of corvettes with each auction held (scottsdale and west palm beach each year).

just some additional suggestions.

Prices vary across the county. These cars can, and do, sell everyday for prices lower than you are going to see published in the various media. Ebay, published price guides, and dealer ads are particularly bad places from which to attempt to determine "average" prices.

My advice is to shop close to home and see what you find. I'm willing to bet you can come up with two or three potential buys with asking prices lower than what you may have been led to believe.
