I was just wondering what would give me more horsepower? A vararam intake or X pipe? If i got the intake I could get something else too because it's cheaper. So just wondering if you guys could help me out I would appreciate it.;help

Don't think an X-pipe alone will give any more horsepower-just change the sound from the stock H-pipe. You will still have stock exhaust manifolds and cat-back. Vararam will give some increase because of better breathing. I would save and buy headers and X-pipe at the same time, Vararam now.

Alright thanks for the info. Im gonna get a vararam intake and a velocity stack then save and buy headers etc.

Very true.
Vararam works like a ram-air and it alone will make a noticeable difference, they have numbers to prove it. It will not show any gain on a dino since it works under speed ( 60mph+). X-pipe will eliminate the gurgle from exhaust on deceleration, it will do nothing for performance. I've read some of your other threads and a question pops to mind, what are you after? Are you trying to build a track car, drag car or some kind of street fighter? Deciding what you wont now will save money later. Something like changing gear ratio may make most sens for a street car where quick acceleration is what you wont without crazy fast top end. If you track the car horsepower will do you no good without suspension , hope you understand where I'm going with this. Read up on some of the past posts, there is a ton of great info here and lost of very knowledgeable people always willing to help. I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome you to CAC, regards Zig.

Just wonted to add, before buying things (like the velocity stack) check them out on the forum or the revue part of CAC board. Beware some things work others just sound like they do. They all cost money and real HP costs a lot!:beer

Thanks for the info zig. Im actually trying to build a mean street machine. I will read before I buy or post from now on.

skip BOTH and save for parts that actually give a noticable increase like better heads and a matching cam,or headers and a low restriction exhaust

vararam intake will give you the most power. an xpipe will change the noise and stop the occasional popping but little to no increase in power. dyno proven. vararam will not give you better dyno numbers because it is really meant for forward moving vehicles and that rush of cool air is what will give you the added power. above 60mph. you will see 1/4 mile improvements. fyi.

Thanks everybody for the info. I just had the vararam installed and I love it it is well worth the money. For future HP ref. gains this is a definate:upthumbs
