Good morning all,
I need some information. We pulled my 350 out to replace all the gaskets(bad oil leaks) timing chain and gear. Everything ran good when we pulled it out, but now, driving is good and engine is strong but when I kick it down, right as the secondaries start to open it falls on its nose almost stalling out. let off the gas and it recoups. I think it's either overloading with gas or starving. Any help would be apprieciated.

Last 2 times that happened to me it was actually the plug wires arc-ing on headers or grounding out because they were mis-routed and touching frame (yes, even through the insulation this can happen).

Check the fuel line down by the pump- if it's twisted or just plain old, it could be sucking it shut. Check the fuel filter. Maybe rattled something loose and it's plugged. Timing OK? Accelerator pump in the carb have a good strong shot? From your description, I'll guess it's a fuel problem.

I think you nailed it TimAT. I talked to my buddy and he told me to check the output of fuel coming from the pump. One good pulse and then nothing but little sprays. I ordered a fuel pump and hopefuly I'll be back on the road Sunday. It is going to be in the 80's this week, NICE!

What type of carb is on this engine?
Is the carb in good condition?
Air filter clean?
When's the last time the fuel filter was replaced?

Carb. is a Quad. Rebuilt 2 years ago. Everything ran perfect before we pulled the motor.
I really think it"s the fuel pump, but if not I'll be back. On a side note, it's a real B^%$# pulling motors out of a C-3.

What was done when you pulled the engine?

Look for a pinched or otherwise restricted fuel line or hose. Also, the fuel pump test suggested earlier is a good idea.

THANKS EVERYONE! Long story short after 2 fuel pumps and a tow in everything is running fine. I just can't get over the fact that new parts don't work. Oh well time to go cruisin.
