SRT (Street and Racing Technology) Motorsports won the 2014 IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship GTLM driver and team championships in the season-ending Petit Le Mans 10-hour endurance race at Road Atlanta on Saturday.

They mess around with the rules and specs for each team yearly, and if that doesn't work, they change them as many times during the race season as required to shake things up. The series is a farce, and was a farce even when Vettes were winning. Unless a sanctioning body has set of rules that allows mods only for safety and reliability, there is no real-world meaning to the brand that wins. It's kind of like NASCAR, only IMSA pretends not to be like NASCAR.

And, when SRT rolled out of the track, they had "FOR SALE" signs on their trucks and cars.

FCA has pulled the plug on SRT Vipers in IMSA/WSCC (NASportCAR). Street Viper sales are in the out house and FCA couldn't care less. The powers that be in IMSA/WSCC played the "Balance of Performance" card all year to ensure that SRT Viper had the advantage and could go out a winner.

It's a farce all right.

Automotive News carried a story on it's web site this morning saying that, not only the factory Viper team, but all of SRT Racing has been axed.

The money is going to be spent on other marketing projects.
