I just installed a vararam in my 2002 Z06. The installation was hampered by my limited mechanical experience. I spent more time doing this project than a more experienced person would have. The installation requires work from above the intake and from below the front of the car. I used some rhino ramps, and they worked well. Working from the bottom of the car requires either working in very confined spaces or removal of more parts than I took off. As my Z06 has no fog lamps, it was easier to do on my car than a coupe or convertible. These vehicles would require more time and more disassembly.
The directions supplied by the manufacturer were poor. The text was not as clear and detailed as I would have liked. The pictures showing particular steps were bad quality photocopies. The same pictures can be seen better on their website, vararam.com. However, the parts were of good quality and they fit quite well. The installation was straight-forward, but requires the removal of the air box, the air dam, the radiator shroud, the front air screens, etc. It took me about four hours to do the job in my driveway. They have a 24 hour help telephone number. I used it and the person I spoke to was very helpful.
The qualty of the parts themselves is quite good, and everything fit well. I do recommend this modification, but potential buyers should be aware that installation requires some basic mechanical skills and several hours time.
I have not yet taken the car to the drag strip, but there is a definite 'set of the pants' increase in performance. I have no doubt that my e.t. will be lower once I get to the track. My local strip will not open for another month, but I will post the data once I get it.
Moderator- I tried to post a product review, but could not. It did not like my user name and password, even though I am sure they were correct.
