The w/s wipers on my 69 quit working. I suspect the problem is a relay identified as the "external w/s/w relay" in the shop manual. Does anyone know where it is physically located and the best (easiest) way to get to it? Thanks..Bob.

Not sure why you blame the relay. Pehaps you've already checked the fuse and the manual override switch at the base of the dash/steering column. Chances are the override switch has somehow been disconnected or it has been turned down to the 'stop' position. Regardless, I would check everything else including vacume connections before going after the relay.

If nothing else appears to be the problem, the w/s/w door relay is located under the shift console almost directly under the front of the radio. It is attached with 2 hex head bolts to a bracket on the tunnel.......the same one the console reinforcement bracket attaches to. I don't recall where the w/s/w solenoid was located, but it must be in the same area.

Getting to the relay is a trick. My suggestion is to remove the emergency brake console and then the shift console. When removing the brake console, remember you have to remove the reinforcement bracket bolt......which you can find in the middle compartment storage box. Then take out the console screws and move on to the shift console. Be careful removing the shift console as you have fiber optics, vent control cables, cigar lighter/light wires and the heater control mechanism to deal with.

Sorry I have no Idea but while we are on wipers I have a question about my 81 wipers I put some new ones on because the old ones were rusty and they hit each other now I dont know if the old ones would hit each other and jam so I dont know if its the motor or wiper blades being to big? Could a motor cause this problem.. Should I order some new wipers from Corvetter Central or Ecklers?

My windshield wipers quit working as well. I futzed around with it for a while and found that the plug at the base of the motor does not have as tight a fit as I would like and it had vibrated out.
