A local dealer here in Maryland has a 73 convertable for sale. Its an average car in a bluish white color, black top. New exhaust and top was all that was needed to pass inspection so he says. Tires are 50% interior is average to below average and it has 113000 miles on it. Its also a small block automatic car with non-functioning a/c. I didnt see what the top has to do with inspection but I held my tongue. Asked for price, was give"it depends...are you paying cash, will you have a trade, etc." I repeated "what are you asking for the car?" He said "what's it worth to you?". Finaly, I said cash price.....he said 25000.00$! I laughed all the way out the door.I said good luck selling a big block car in the same year and mileage for that price. Think I ****ed him off.I told him I could buy cars like his for 8-10000 on ebay all day. He told me he would buy them from me all day at that price.I told him I would be in touch when I had ten or so to sell him. What a jerk. You know guys like him give this hobby a bad name.Just thought I'd pass this on ...I'm still chuckling. If anyone wants the name of the dealer so they can get a good deal I'd be happy to pass it on to ya. So I'll keep searching locally..there has to be an honest person out there somewhere.....RIGHT!!!!!

Well he may have a point, afterall, it is perfect convertable weather so these are getting top dollar ;LOL ;LOL ;LOL

Hey Taz,

Where in Maryland are you? I live in Eldersburg Md. I've recently decided to sell my '89 convertible. I just bought a '63 coupe and I have a '63 convertible which leaves me with 3 cars and a 2 car garage. The coupe is in a friends garage until I sell the'89 which will then make room for the '63. Let me know if you're interested before I list it in the paper.

Thanks,
Mike

I wouldve jumped all over that! Youre crazy! :J <you

Personally I would have slapped him w/ the back of my hand.

I'm trying to sell my 89 convertable and my 91 coupe to make way for a 72-74 stingray. But good luck anyway.I sure wish someone would buy my cars...then I could buy one of those "imaginary" stingrays for 10- 12000 dollars..you know the ones the dealer says doesnt exist. No wonder everyone thinks dealers are *******s...then they wonder why no one wants to go to the dealer for cars, parts or service.

Oh well I'll fight that battle another day

Hehee. Sounds like when I decided it was time to buy my first Vette (this past summer). I was driving by a local dealership and saw an 82 Crossfire with the rare silver-green paint. It was low miles... about 42K. The front end was drooping quite low and the chin spoiler was ripped off and being dragged around, the engine stuttered, the interior was trash throughout, the trans was slipping and the rear end was leaking a lot of fluid onto the exhaust. These fumes then moved into the cabin at a stop. YIKES!!! They would not go below 11K... because I Initially offered 5k (they were offended cause I low balled them). A few weeks later I saw the exact car on Ebay being offered by this dealer. Well... I got some vengence. Whom ever the TOOL was who put this girl up for auction... they forgot to make it a sealed/closed bid. One by one I emailed each bidder and told them about the condition of the car. One by one they all stopped bidding. The car eventually sold for guess what??? 5700. I had a good chuckle.

Believe me I will be looking for this car online and on ebay.If i see it I will be doing the same thing. I was willing to trade both my 91 coupe and my 89 vert even up for the car , assuming he would want 8-12000 for the car. Since I want a 72 to 74 real bad I was , and still am willing to take a loss on the cars, just so I could get the car I want. I got A real hardon for one now and since I havent had too may offers on my cars I was willing to go super low just to move them and get what I want and get it over with , so I could get moving on doing whatever the car will need , or what I want to do to it before spring. But even though I was giving my cars away he still wanted to rip me off. I just dont understand. Guess it wasnt the right car or the right time...but I really wish someone would wither buy my cars or trade me both for a decent 72- 74......I hate the wait...and I really want another vette.....I hope my luck changes soon. All I want for xmas is a 72 vette, a 72 vette, a 72 vette,,,,,,or to sell my cars so I can buy one....I hope santa is listening.

Wish me Luck,

Since I live in Fallston, MD, I have to ask who the dealer in/around Bel Air is? :) Chuck

Prolly not who you think. This one is a newcomer who has a lot of Corvettes on the lot and some other cars too. The one your thinking of has all Corvettes and has been around for years. I found him to be a good guy who is fair and reasonably priced in spite of his high asking prices. The other guy fugheddaboutit....do your self a favor and pass on by. Something tells me he wont be there too long with his attitude anyway.

Thank You Eric! I appreciate everyones help and input. This place is so cool.I'm glad I found it

Taz :m Here's to Ya Bud...

The "big" one I was think of is "T and C". I won't post their full name, but they've been in Fallston for decades, and are pretty good guys.

The only "newcomer" I've seen is the guy on Rt. 1 who has a lot of C5's for sale. Don't even know the name of the dealership. Someone told me most of his cars are on consignment. Chuck

You got it. Run away as fast as you can.I know I did.:crazy
