I would like to put on a nice "throaty muscle sounding" exhaust system on my new 2004 corvette coupe, can anyone give me some recommendations. I don't want it too loud inside the cabin though. My name is Chuck and my e-mail is janetsuepetersen@yahoo.com THANK YOU!!!

Well Chuck, I have an '85 with Borlas and the sound is great outside without being intrusive inside. On my newly acquired 2000 coupe the stock exhaust is sneaky quiet until you wake it up. Then it's a respectable "Dammmmn!" I kind of like that for now but probably will change it later.

I cast my vote for borlas as well. Not too intrusive inside, sounds good outside and all that polished stainless looks great. Bolted right up too.

Hi Chuck and welcome.

Is your coupe auto or a 6speed?

I ask because most of the aftermarket exhausts sound good when you're accelerating or going through the gears, but
some have a very subdued sound at idle.

The Corsa exhaust is one of the latter.
Mine woke up when I put the headers on.
Before the headers, I wasn't very pleased with the sound at idle.

B&B's exhaust sounds good all the time.

Borla's exhausts sound good too.
Borla's Stingers sound incredible and will remove any loose fillings that you might have.
I have spoken to a few guys that have/had them.
There is some resonance at cruising.
Some people like that...others don't.

If you can, go to a car show or cruise in and listen to as many different exhausts as you can.
Ultimately, that is your best bet.
You may not like what someone else raves about.

If you can get to ride in a few cars with different exhausts, that would be ideal. I don't know how practical that is for you though.

Good luck and enjoy your beauty.

Pedro

Borla Quad Stingers are new, made for deep growl like the Stingray but uniquely quiet in cabin and coasting in neighborhood at 3AM when you don't want to wake the neighbors. Sounds even smoother & more balanced since installing a Vortex RAM Air Intake.

Hello Chuck

I have a 2002 automatic with a set of B&B prts with speedway tips.

When I was shopping I wanted a muscle car sound (not a europian sound) And was refered to the PRTS. I have a 1966 big block vette with side pipes and if we are going out to a cruise and I am in the 66 and the wife is in the C5
I can here the C5 burbling over the C2's side pipes

The bestway for me to describe the prts at idle is it sounds like a V8 speed boat gurgeling in the water. If I was to purchase an exchaust again I would find a car with them on it and ask to go for a ride

Good Luck and enjoy

You have asked probably the most personal mod question of all......what is sweet music to one person is loud and obtrusive noise to another.....

Like some have already suggested, try to find folks with different systems, and listen/ride.....that's the only way you will be certain before you put $$ into another sytem....

I'm speaking from personal experience, as I come from the fbody community. I also have a '95 Formula Firebird, and one of the changes I made was to add SLP's Loud Mouth exhaust. I personally love it (takes me back to my young & stupid days), yet there are many folks that say it is far too loud.

Bottom line, it's whatever floats your boat:beer

A friend of mine found a Z06 exhaust system and installed it on his '03 50th Anniv. Vette. He says he loves the sound of the Z06's titanium exhaust, not to mention the 13 lbs saved on each side. I've heard his and another coupe equipped with the Z06 exhaust, and it sounds pretty sweet to me. So, if you can find a deal on somebody's Z06 exhaust on eBay or something like that, it might be worth considering....

:w again...

Got the E-mail & thanks :upthumbs

Not sure what the color combo will be...

I'm just going to go to the dealer w/my checkbook &

:Steer the car back to Vegas, baby...:cool

We'll keep in touch... I was on the BORLA web-site this morning

and that upgrade exhaust system looked great...

Lookin' forward to some photos:D

... and remember

"What happens here ;) , stays here."

Only Vegas...

which is the best "sleeper" exhaust system???

sleeper= dead silent at idle and while crusing but once you step on the right pedal it roars like its trying to stop the world from spinning.

Gotta agree with Corvettecrazy and thanks to TooTall, I finally found out that my supersprints are a brand of thier own. Crazy describes them perfectly.

BMP Design in Tx distrbutes them to tuners nation wide. 800-648-7278

Go to http://www.supersprint.com/homeuk.htm to get a great picture.

When you really put the hammer down the sound is nothing short of kicking a** and taking names. :_rock :Steer

i've got to agree with fhturner.
if your coupe is stock like my 98 is you'll be real happy with the ZO6 titanium exhaust sound.

I've got to vote for the Corsa Pace Car system. Great sound at throttle but quiet on the highway. Can't beat that combination. Tom.

We have a 99 Roadster and have installed the Corsa X-Pipe and the Pro Series Indy 500 Catback system. The X-Pipe gets rid of the motorboating sound at idle and the combined system gives you that great V-8 sound that is consistent with a high performance car. Great sound on acceleration and no cabin resonance.:beer :beer

I live in England and have just ordered a Borla stinger with oval quads for my 2000 C5

I have never heard a stinger but I am hoping it will sound like my old 75 C3 which had straight through pipes and cherry bombs.

Am I going to be disappointed?

I have another two or three weeks until it arrives, so I can only dream.

Regards Aaron

Hi Aaron,

I'm in England too! I got myself an SLP loudmouth system a few weeks ago and if the stingers are anything like that you will NOT need it any louder!!

One thing's for sure - there's not many cars in the UK that sound like a Vette with sports exhaust! Not surprising when you're comparing 5.7 against the avg engine sixe over here of something like 1.8!!

Whatever noise it makes i'm sure you'll love it!
