Hello Folks,

I'm curious as to what the GM warranty would have been for the '63-'67 corvette . Was it something like, 3 years 36,000 miles and could you purchase extended warrantees? Is there any documentations as to the conditions and terms of warrantees from this period?

Thanks,
Mike

The '1965 Chevrolet Owner Protection Plan' states that the new vehicle warranty is, 24 months or 24,000 miles.

Thanks for the info.
I specifically would like to find out what the 1963 warranty was. I guess the warrantees expanded each year from '63-'67.

Best Regards,
Mike

'67 was 24/24 on the car and 5/50 on the powertrain (which is what generated all the "CE" blocks) :D

Nice roadster Blue.

I have 2 '63s, a riverside red 340 hp roadster and a sebring silver 300 horse coupe. I'm trying to gather as much info and facts regarding the '63s. The '63 roadster is a survivor that I bought from the second owner in California last year, and the coupe I recently purchased locally.

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks, I sorta consider my car a "survivor" given the hard life it had for 185,000 miles. :) Saved for 7 years to buy it, and it was my only car as with many Corvette owners back then. Drove it everyday, everywhere, rain, snow, sleet or mud. I even lived in Chicago for 4 years and never stolen. Whatta great car! Unfortunately, it's not the fastest car in the vally any more...:( butttt, lets see, some 4.56 gears, sticky tires, and......oh well, maybe not.

Good luck with your 63's.

Hey Blue,

I think it's cool when people hold onto a car for that many years. I talked to a friend who just sold his 65 coupe after owning it for 30 years. I remember as a young man, he and I working on it because we couldn't afford to pay for repairs and it was also fun to do our own work. He went and bought a '98 C5 with the money he sold the '65 for. My how things have changed. I bought my first vette in 1976 which was a modified '63 roadster. Someone had blown up the original fuelie and replaced it with a 283. It ran good but far from original, but what did I know. I loved driving the car and still enjoy driving the 2 '63s I now own. I have an 1989 convertible that I'm going to sell to make room for the '63 coupe. I only have a 2 car garage. :-(

Take care!

Yes, engine swaps were all the rage back then. I knew a guy that bought a 59 Vette from a used car lot, that seemed a little slow. Come to find out it had a 265 cubic inch engine in it instead of the 283. His friend had a 62 that when he traded it in on a 63 Coupe at the same place, the 62 had the 265 in it. :)

I have to agree, that the mid-years, (or C2's as they are now known) are great driving cars. Lots of interior room, good performance, and high look-at-me factor. They are a little lax on the gas mileage though compared to the new ones.

It gets pretty warm driving mine in the summer too, and those side-pipes that sound so good in town, begin to wear on a person after a couple of hours on the road at 3700rpm, even with ear plugs. Still, I wouldn't let it go for a new one, but I might change gear ratios and put an AC in it.

I hear ya Blue.

I'm partial to the '63-'67 Stingrays too. My wife would like to have a newer one but I guess she'll have to wait.
What part of the country do you live?

Ol Blue,

My wife went to school at Purdue 1980-1983. We took a trip to Chicago two Christmas's ago and then down through Indiana on our way back east. We like to take cruises to the mid west.

Best Regards,
Mike

Ol Blue,

Glad to hear that you like to road tour thru the midwest. There are some fantastic roads in the Southern part of the state if you ever get a chance to spend more time in Indiana. If you ever get a chance to try any of them. Take the time to tour this place.

Best wishes to you and yours for a wonderful holiday season and a healty and happy new year.
