The temp on the gauge cluster has always read lower than actual water temp. I am going to test it(ground sensor lead, check gauge). My question is and this may be a dumb question, is this temp sensor(passenger side between plugs) actually immersed in water? I ask because if I change it I want to be prepared.

Thanks
Dave

Yes it is, open to the water jacket (or should be)
although an observation here. the water temps do vary in the engine. so water near the thermostat housing is a different temp than the water in the head so it is possible that your sender is ok

I just assumed it's off because the fan kicks on when the gauge reads around 160. The oil temp seems fine at about 210, but my oil pressure sender must be bad as well as it reads 80 psi always.

C-4 senders

"The fan kicks on when the gauge reads around 160."

The Mid america replacement switch clicks on around 200 engine temp and holds on till 180 degrees. The factory switch clicks on @ 232 ish.

The oil pressure will read 80 with the circut OPEN.. make sure you have a good connection at the "sliver bullet"( sender) and the unit is not leaking at the pipe fitting.. that's the ground for the circut.

Thanks for info. I will check the connection at the sender and I may try to clean the water temp sensor. I have never seen the temp gauge go over 175, not even when it idled at some 90 degrees outside while they did my emission check.
