This maybe a stupid question, but whats the difference?I always assumed that polish just enhances the gloss and wax does that and protects.Does this sound right?

In the strictest sense of the words, polish "usually" means a smoothing of a surface and wax is "usually" a coating on top of a surface used for protection. Some common waxes are carnuaba, beeswax, & parafin. Some waxes have cleaners in them and some do not.

Not all companies use these definitions. An example is the brand that I know and love. The "polish" name within Zaino Show Car Polish was decided upon by the President of the company (Sal Zaino) to distinguish the product from carnuaba based products that are prevalent in the industry. Zaino is really a "polymer wax".

A true polish will enhance the surface being treated. There are many types of waxes I personally use a polymer/wax blend. I find it to be most effective for what I want my car to look like. Zaino could probably be described more like a synthetic sealer with gloss enhancers.

SLROCKE,

Absolutely beautiful.

Soooo corect me if Im wrong but ,polish doesnt usually offer protection. Its more of a surface prep for wax.Does that sound right?Man Im going to have to try some Zaino,Ive heard nothing but good.

In most situations (Zaino being one of the exceptions), you are correct.

"Polishing" is surface preparation.

:)

WOW! Thanks for the information you helped me out here. I'm ontop of it, my mission must buy Zanio.
