We pick our new 2004 torch red coupe this Friday. I'm looking for ideas as to what and what not to do as far as polishing and waxing the new surface. I've used McGuires products for many years and have generally been pleased with the results. The car will live in the garage when not on the road.
Thanks................:v

Chevrolet used to say not to wax the car for 6 months after purchase. They did not tell us this when my dad bought his C5 (1998 pace car) so we waxed it right away, but we were careful to use a very pure and natural wax (zymol, not the junk you can buy from your local parts store, the real stuff. www.zymol.com )

I would be wary of using any synthetic waxes during the first few months of the cars life...

Thanks for the responses - I wasn't intending on waxing the first weekend but I do want to get something on the surface to protect the paint from the acid rain and junk that seems to come down in these parts.

check the car for acid rain before you leave the dealer. My Dad purchased a new 1991 corvette from Reedman up in PA. We got the car home and couldn't get the 'water spots' off the car. Reedman is a great dealer though, and took care of the car for us (sprayed an extra couple of coats of clear on it). if your car has acid rain damage, get them to do a light sand, and re-clear before you take it. the car will look far better with an extra couple of coats of clear on it anyway.
