what is a good weather strip glue ?one that will last

This worked for me.

Try "3M" brand, they have adhesive cleaner to get the old stuff off and get a tube of black adhesive to stick on the new weatherstrip.
Cover the seats while your using the cleaner so you don't stain them. PG
