My week end project

I started out on Friday with a goal to
Power-wash the bottom of the car.
Clean and repaint the frame in the areas I was working in.
Install new brake lines to the rear including hose’s and all clamps/clips.
New emergency brake-cables.
Detail what ever I seen.

Power washing went well but took for ever and I some how got side tracked while the electric heater’s were drying the car and had to power wash the front stoop and rear deck of the house.

Painting the frame was a disappointment I used chassis black from eastwood company and I brushed it on(to avoid over spray) normally I can brush on paint and not have a problem with it looking like it was brushed on, Looked good when I went to bed last night. This morning it looked like a brush job so I will have to redo it with spray paint. I will go out and take a picture and post it.

Installing the main rear brake line was difficult I would not have been able to do it on jack stands because of the way I had to maneuver the line thru the cross member area and then in-between the frame and the fiberglass to get to the rear block.

I was able to only install the rear emergency brake cables unfortunately they sent me one for a 67 so I could not install the front one.

I now bead blast what ever I can take off the car. If it’s supposed to be natural I spray it with clear coat. All of the new brass brake blocks, clips, hose ends you name it I clear coated I do not want to do this again.

My 9 year old son helped me all day today, I just kept handing him hardware and he bead blasted it, He also handed me the tools as needed. He has worked with me in the past but this was the first time he was using the blast cabinet and it really helped out having him blasting things(saved me a ton of time) There is a picture below showing him hard at work.
Bleeding the brakes went well see my post on a new tool available.

I also have to say I never EVER would have tackled any of these projects with out the lift. The lift makes a project as this enjoyable. I really don’t think I would have had such a great time sliding in and out from under the car up on jack stands. If you have the room a lift is really a great tool to own

Looks great, Larry! Neat to have your son helping you - wonderful "bonding" experience, and he can tell his friends at school about "blasting" his Dad's Corvette parts! :D

Doesn't look that bad to me.... Looks quite nice.

Will enjoy further posts (and pictures *hint*hint*)
