weird electrical problem

I just installed the c5 column lock bypass, it went in without a hitch. Today after driving for about 15 minutes the dashboard died, all needles dropped to zero, and the display showed all ************************. I disconnected the battery and then reconnected it. Drove fine for about 15 minutes then the fuel gauge dropped to E, and low fuel displayed on the IP. I also got the dreaded pull key wait 15 seconds message. No significant codes were stored. I called Corvettes of Houston and they insist that the bypass is not the source of the problem, I have disconnected the bypass and all seems fine, but I have not driven the car for any extended period of time. Any input would appreciated

Hi there,
Well, honestly, I would suggest that you leave your CLB disconnected. There are numerous reasons not to have this device on c5.
I would also suggest extracting codes from the DIC, to give us a little insight as to what has caused the problem.
CLB does nothing more than attempt to fool the computer into thinking that the column lock actuator is working.
Unfortunately, it does NOT provide sufficient electrical load to keep everything running smoothly.
Do I feel that the CLB is causing your issue??? I dont think so, only because the CLB usually does not affect the DIC like that.
So, please list your codes and let us know what else is happening.

Thanks C4/C5 the only codes that are posted are P1571, and B0432. Another problem has just surfaced, when I turn my headlights on the lights come on and up but the dashboard does not light up and the tail lights do not come on, I had this problem about a year ago but it went away and had not resurfaced since. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

One other strange thing that I forgot to mention is that my trip odometer resets itself about twice a month. Any feedback?

Brother in law had a GM product with electronic dash that reset the odometer from 110,XXX to 77,XXX 5 times before he traded the car in (at "79,XXX") . Jim

it is only the trip odometer that has been resetting, but it is the other items that concern me more.

Hi there,
I would suggest first that you check your minifuse #6, which is your parking lamp circuit.
Then, your 0432 is for your rear defogger circuit.
I would check that fuse as well, and let us know.

All fuses are fine, and the rear defroster works in spite of the code, any other suggestions? I am thinking that the BCM is shot, or a bad ground, but I am unsure as to where to look or how to proceed to diagnose further.

disconnected the CLB and now I got the dreaded pull key wait 10 seconds error, and then the service column lock message. Luckily after waiting another 10 seconds the lock released and I was able to drive home, any input?

It has actually been 2 days since I removed the CLB. Day one without CLB was fine, day 2 the problems arise. No new codes since last post.
