Ah, congratulations. You are a very lucky person. How is the Vette? Any necessary repairs that you need to make? Or is it driveable now until you decide to make some restorations and/or modifications? No problems with it at all?

I'm looking for a C3 Vette. I can't wait until I find the one... :D

Outstanding Navy, Congrats!!! My brother-in-law has a '77 and loves his too. Are you at Oceana NAS in VB?

Can't have too many sharks,,goodluck with it.

I am a new owner of corvette also. I bought a fully optioned 1979 corvette for a real good deal. Wasnt quite driveable at first, but now has come along nicely. The newest problem is the altenator, I will be replacing it this week. All of the problems with my vette is that it had set for 3 years. So alot of seals have went in it. What is a good way to bring back the color in your carpet? Ill try to make the pics of my vette smaller so i can load them on here. Yellow fever when it comes to cars.

Ah, the vette is driveable, but it does need a little interior work( faded carpet, leather work on seat, new door panel, driver's window with mind of its own) , minor 'glass work and a new paint job. The previous owner also had a problem with the tilt steering wheel assembly I need to address.
The good thing is he had the engine, and tranny rebuilt (with documentation), and a new exhaust installed.
It's so cool driving the C3 down the road with those massive bulging fenders and hearing the roar of the engine!!!

Yeah navyvette, it is cool, indeed. I couldn't have said it better myself. By the way, let me know if you stumble upon any great deals when you get to the seat work. I am going to need new leather soon. Enjoy the ride......

The major work left is the rims, need a good polish and shine, but that alumnium is hard to get to shine, carpet, door panels, steering wheel recovered, and a paint job adventually. Rear brakes are acting up, which I am working on, and the altenator is bad. I should have the mechanics fixed this weekend. Thanks!

Heah Wills79Vette when you do the rear brakes make sure you line up the holes in the hubs right or you will never get parking brakes set.I have a couple Vettes now 80 & 81 and both had parking brake problems as well as a 77 I bought and sold last summer.None had the parking brakes right and when opened up 2 had brand new parking brake pads as they couldn't adjust them properly.
You probably already did them over the weekend but just thought I'd pass the info along anyways.

Best way to bring back color in the carpet is to Replace it..It is only around 200 bucks or so to do. I cut and formed mine myself out of Mercedes Benz Carpet...however you can buy the kit from any of the suppliers Cheap

Wills79Vette and navyvette congrats :) Like Alwyn678
said replace the carpet. I went to BG two years ago and bought a complete set plus heat shields for under $200. It took me one saturday to rip out and replace.
To shine those wheels, do a search on my post of "shiny wheels"

Good Luck!!!

Gary

I love driving my Vette. I have almost everything fixed now. I have to drive it more, to see what else might need fixing. Its not the best looking car on the road, but at night it attracts the attention. Thanks for the warm welcome!

I have the same color on my 78 L48. I have not seen many this color. I would post a picture but its covered for winter and engine parts are everywhere....;-)
