I have a small stick welder for hobbies, but the AIR tube broke off the Cat.

Can I use the stick welder to reattach, and if so are there any precautions, disconnect battery, will it affect computer ????????

Help appreciated
Mart

A few mos. ago I needed some minor welding on a trailer before I went to the Pony. The guy made a point of telling me that he needed the traler off the car or he would likely blow the computer out, so I think you got a problem doing it on the car.

Welding

Sir, There has been times when my buddies call me a tinker tommy, but beside having Vettes I also own a boat. I have used a product called Marine Tex, which can be purchased from a Marine Store. It comes in either white or black and when applied and given time to harden, it is like steel. If you can attach the steel pipe with some braces long enough for the Marine Tex to harden you will not have to weld the unit. Doc

Better Safe Than Sorry

I ALWAYS disconnect the battery before welding anything.;)

But you don't have a computer on the 62, do ya Rowdy.:D

You're Kiddin Right?

There ain't nuthin on there, well, nuthin that wasn't necessary in 62, with the exception of the MSD 6AL box. My point was with removing the battery connection while welding is I've seen strange things happen when the terminals weren't removed. Granted, I have no knowledge of what happens when you remove them WITH a computer, but what happens when you change batteries? It has to be, remove the dead or old one and put the new one in. I'm not trying to be funny, I honestly don't know Mart;shrug

How about the ground strap on the frame? Would that offer you any extra protection?
