Hi,

I have moved back north for a job. Unfortunately it just rains all the time here. I have noticed that my seatbelts are becoming wet under the seat. There is a peice of rubber at the bottom towards the back of the sill plate looks like the water is leaking in from there.

Is there any kind of glue or sealer I can use in that corner to prevent this because the rubber seems fine just looks like its missing something.

Also does anybody know what is the correct size screw for the door sill plates.

Thanks

My 77 did the same thing. I found that it wasn't the rubber drip seal that you mentioned but rather the missing moisture barrier behind the door panel.

I used a aluminum tape and covered all holes on the inside door and that stopped water from leaking down into the retractor well.

My '77 did the same thing too. At first I thought it was spilled beer, but it was the missing moisture barrier as well. I replaced it with a sheet of rubber instead of the original plastic--it really cut down on road noise.

Under my seats I have a rubber or plastic plug that fits a drain hole. If yours is missing, it will allow water in.

Yes. So now you are looking at a top leaking, window leaking, or something like that. When I had my 66 convertible I used baby powder to locate where the top was leaking. I sprinkled the powder all along the area where the top sat and then lowered the top into position. I then used my hose to make "rain" and when it was done, the water had washed away the powder where it was leaking. The same thing will work for T tops.
