For those that have not been keeping up with my "new" 1975 convertible; After driving her home from Wisconsin to Louisiana, on my first outing the heater core busted. Well, that was an adventure but I finally replace it and just finished putting the dash and console back together. The heater core was easier than putting the dash and console together. I had a really hard time with the center console, I broke the metal frame used to hold the a/c and heater controls. All four corners of the console shift plate are broken so the control will not sit straight. After getting it all in and starting it up; none of the climate controls work. The a/c won't come on and the fan will not activate. As much as i hate to, I am going to have to open it up again and see what I can see. To make things worse, when I took a test ride my blinkers stopped working. I didn't think that I messed with anything that should effect them. I checked the fuse and it is good. Any suggestions? The flashers work but not the blinkers. Anybody know where I can find that metal frame that holds the climate control wheels? I am hoping that I pinched some of those vacuume lines; anything else I should check?

Thanks
Andy

Looking at my wiring diagrams, which is for 77 and 78, it looks like the turn signals and e-flashers are different circuits. It could be that the turn signal flasher may have gone bad, not an expensive item, maybe a couple of bucks from the local auto parts store. The only other thing on the same circuit is your backup lights, and radio noise capacitor. If your backup lights still work, then I bet it is a bad flasher.

As far as the A/C controls, there is a multi pin connector that may not be seated correctly. The vacuum hoses controls the vents opening and closing.

You can get a replacement metal frame from Zips, Corvette America, or Mid America. I looked in Corvette America's catalog and did not see just the plate, but the entire Heater/AC Control module are $59.

Hope this helps!

Andy,

Since you had the dash out, you may have inadvertantly damaged or disconnected the flasher which is located directly behind the map pocket on the passenger side under the dash.

Sounds like you've got a couple long nights ahead of you. Good luck!

Bill,
Thanks for the info. I found the turn signal flasher on the pass. side and that was the problem. While I was digging around under the drivers side dash I must have done something to make the little green arrow for the right turn signal stop working . It was working (with the flashers) before I found the turn signal flasher. I am going to check this evening and see if I can access the rear of the tach without pulling the whole dash. You made reference to "Zip" as one of the parts suppliers but I couldn't find them on a google search. I have catalogs for the other two. I can't find anybody that has the metal frame that I need. I emailed corvette america and asked them if they could get the frame. Have not heard back from them yet. Know of any salvage yards that specialize in vettes?

Andy

Thanks Bill,

Andy
