I'm looking to purchase a set of headers for my 74 Corvette (350 ci) and i was wondering what brand of headers I should purchase. I'm thinking Hooker but they are rather expensive and i'm on a tight budget right now. I would like some opinions. Thanks.

Hooker supercomps are very good choice, and in my opinion they are excellent value for the money. If you want best headers you might want to check Stainless Works or Stahl.

alright. thanks for the help groovy!

If cost/value is important then look at Dynomax. I have them on my 72 vert , 383 stroker. The fit on #4 plug was very tight. They are coated inside and out and don't leak. Fred.:cool

I happened to see a set of dynomax headers on a resto-mod vette that i was looking at earlier today...i've also checked them out. they would definately fit in the budget...the set of Hooker Headers that i was looking at from Ecklers were $1729.99:( ...thats outrageous!..thanks for your help as i am considering a set of these dynomaxes! -matt.

Sumitt Hooker comps ceramic inside and out Approx 330. The easiest install I ever completed.

Dynamax Headers

I installed a set on my 77 vette. The only parts I removed (besides the exhaust manifolds;)) was the starter and plugs. They install from the bottom without much trouble. The only negative is that the collectors angle down slightly instead of being level to the ground. So instead of the exhaust running parallel to the floorpan, it has to dip down and then come back up. The Hooker headers I've seen ( although twice the price) don't do that.

Thanks for all of your help. I'm gonna hold off on the headers for a few weeks. Last night I got a call from one of my friends who is painting my front spoiler and I have to order a new valance to bolt the spoiler to. Also, while trying to remount my spare tire (hasn't been under the car since i bought it), i found some more parts that i need to order for it also. This will probably run me around $200-$250. I imagine I will get the headers when I get my new exhaust. Thanks again for your help. -Matt:v

I was thinking about a pair of shortys, like a lot of hot rod use?

"Hooker side mounts", clean up access to the power train components, Plus much less heat comming into the driver compartment, and really change the profile of the c3 vette, if you like a real aggressive change of profile. A bit pricey..1100$ delivered to the door, but can be installed at home in a day, with a little help from a friend.
