Hmmm, I guess anything is possible, right? Right??

It's not a bad looking ride, but a bit pricey- especially since purchase would not include getting the car home.

Why would someone pay for the 36 gallon tank and then go with the 300hp baser engine? Seems crazy to me.

Kurt

"every moving part of the engine was replaced except the camshaft..." I'm no mechanic, but that seems a little odd, doesn't it?

So much stuff has been replaced on that car, I can't see how they can justify the price. It is nice looking though. Classic

67 big tank

Wow, what great pictures. I would think this car ia worth more than $ 84,000. Where is the other big tank car I wonder?

Best regards,
Gerry

The other one was a Carlisle a few years back as part of a big tank collection, they had one from 63-67. funny thing was, it also was a 300hp car. if I remember it right. It was 300hp, auto, ps, pb, and AC! I also remember an article on it in corvette fever around that same time frame.

The other Bigtank '67 is owned by the owner of Long Island Corvette supply, at one time he had one of each year, and Dennis, as I remember, you are correct that car was also a weird optioned car.

It is funny that the 67 big tank cars both could have been base engine cars, but...... isnt the red/white/blue 67 L88 lemans race car a big tank car as well??

Bob,

I've corresponded by e-mail a few times with the owner (Artur Riekmann) of that car who produces an internet magazine, for mostly American cars, in Austria. Here is the link: http://www.automobile-riekmann.com/magazin/magazin.htm
If you can read German it looks like an interesting site.

They did a feature on the 67 and 62 in late 2001. http://www.automobile-riekmann.com/...lie_lagasse/corvettes_der_familie_lagasse.htm but I have never gotten an English translation!

He appears to have several businesses going including a Vette rental operation.

One of the fellows in my NCRS Chapter used to have a big tank 65 coupe. Was also a "loaded" small block with AC, etc. Was dark green/green. Don't know where it is now...he sold it. Chuck

I've seen a few other mid year 300 hp big tank cars also. If you were looking to order a car that would go a long distance between stops it makes sense. Or in a country where you might not have been able to get good gas everywhere.
