Removing cats soon....
What can I expect.
Will have x-pipe and o2 sims in place.

The pros:

Once the computer is recalibrated to the new parameters, you can expect a power gain.

You would effectively be putting a straight pipe in between the exhaust manifolds & mufflers.

The cons:

This is against the law.
Big fine if the feds catch you.
Unless you are the feds.

You will be polluting more than you would be normally.
Poor Earth

With the loss in back pressure your O2 sensors are going to scream lean therefore your going to lose a bit of fuel mileage due to the computer riching up the mixture.

I think TPiS sells a "cheater" for C5's all they do is clip onto the existing 02 sensors and fool them into thinking everythings normal. Now your engine will respond as normal with a free flow exhaust....more power.

Hope this helps

hey there, i just did mine the other day.no cats=codes.the o2 simulators are on the way.just so happens, there from the place Big Red said.the first 20 miles the car was pretty sluggish.i disconnected the battery for a few hours to reset the computer.even without the 02 simulators, the car is"learning" pretty fast, but it will not get the fuel/air mixture correct until the simulators are installed.i will be going to whole different exhaust in about 6 months.i just wanted to try this until then.i will probably put Random Tech super hi flow cats on there just to comply to the law, even though hawaii has no emisions testing at all.my car is a 99'-only 2 cats.later,Todd.

hawaii-5-lo,

You should stay away from Tennessee!

HOTMOTORSPORTS,i will be putting Random Tech super flow cats on in a couple months, i am just doing an experiment at the track.i also read something very interesting in a post about exhaust in which c4/c5 spec explains how the rear o2 sensor is 25% of air/fuel mixture so simulators dont work exactly as advertised.later,Todd.

Just goes to show that you have to read everything before changing. It's a good thing you can experiment with this before commiting.

I'd love to see some updates to this thread.
