1966,and a 1962 thats almost complete
So I have set a favorite search in my ebay for suspention parts for my hybid car build. And I keep seeing these traction bars. What excatly would traction bars do for an independent rear suspention car as ours
(not that I am putting them on) I am just wondering

Larry,

You forgot to put the link in your mesage!:L

The C4 suspension as originally installed in the car, had a long torque arm that extended forward to a mount to transfer any torque forward to the body and I can not imagine how you could improve on that. The only purpose or any traction bar it to keep the rear from winding up due to torque, and transfer that torque forward on the chassis to apply a lifting force on the front of the chassis which will plant the rear tires more firmly.
Without seeing the bar, I am going to assume that maybe it is just a more sturdy aftermarket replacement torque arm. On the chassis that you are buying, the center section is bolted to the chassis and the chassis is very well triangulated in this area, so the torque arm is not used. The bearing carriers at the end of the halfshafts are not subjected to any torque, except in the braking mode, so there would be no need for anything at any place except the center section.
Regards, John McGraw

They look more like a snubber bar that would fit C1`s, Camaros, ect. with leaf springs and not exactly for a IRS rear. They appear to be just another type of traction bar Larry.

:( I agree - unless the pic is wrong, the guy doesn't know what he's selling; those are NOT for a C2/C3 Corvette - they're for a leaf-spring solid-axle car of some sort.

:L par for the course on Ebay buyer best know what you are buying :L

The rear spring bars are for 53-62, but my 66 came with a bar that looked similar to one of the bars shown. The 4 bolt plate at the end of the bar was the rear spring mount plate and the bolt hole at the other end located the bolt for the pinion bracket insulators. the rubber insulator at the front of the bar was crushed into the pinion crossmember. The bracket took the torque load off the diff cover and put it on the pinion crossmember so the 472cid/th400 couldn't dislocate the rear on a hard launch - if the 11 inch wide rubber managed to hook up.
