Hi everyone.
My wife and I have an '81 and we would like to know what we can do to it and still keep it a survivor. The footwell carpet could do with replacing and the backs of the seats would benifit from a dust over with interior dye/paint. Our original plan was to restore it but we took 1st place Best survivor at a local show our club attends on Memorial Day and we were part of the Disney Car Masters Show here in Orlando. Everyone who has seen the car has told me not to restore it but keep it as a survivor. It still has all the original parts on the engine (manifolds, smog pump and carb), paint and interior. I like the idea of leaving it but there are things that need doing to make me happy.
I would appreciate other views on my dilemma. I'm a believer that things are only original once and they should be cared for until they really need to be rebuilt. 2nd Annual Disney Car Masters 2012 (46).jpgDisney 2012 Day 2 (10).jpgDisney 2012 Day 2 (1).jpg

If you want to go for a recognized award for unrestored, unmodified cars then you'll have to follow their rules. If not, and your idea is to keep it unrestored to your own standards, then I guess you decide what to do.

I would say, first try to find out how the NCRS links about the originality about your '81. From there you can deside how original the car is.
Like you say, also for me original is only original how it left the factory on day 1. But there're many shades of grey between black and white :)

Greetings Peter

I think you should do with your car what makes you happy with it.

Not what makes others happy with it. :thumb
