What can I do to make this look nicer?

Hey everyone,

I finally got the time to get the digital pics into the computer and uploaded somewhere. I just spent $40 at Summit buying chrome stuff and convoluted tubing! Tell me what else I can do to make this engine compartment look nice. Here are the things I'm already planning:
Exhaust Manifold Dressing
Clean up valve covers
Organize wires
New alternator housing (blue?)
powdercoat the intake manifold
Powdercoat the fan (blue?)

Here are the pics of the progress the compartment has taken:

Love the color!

The pics were big, and took my computer a while to load, but it was nice seeing your engine bay.
I have to comment on your vette's color...I think it is beautiful!!!!

Thank you very much! I like the color too. It's really faded in certain spots unfortunately. The previous owner kind of left the car for dead...

now about those pictures. I wonder if one of the nice moderators can tell me how I can shrink them or make it so that it's easier for people to see them?

*hint hint*

Thanks :)

Unfortunately...

...I'm pretty computer/picture illiterate!

I think that if you re-size them and save them at the smaller size before you attach them...that seems like it should work?
If you have trouble, ask Bud (Rare81) he is the photo guru! :BOW

Careful with that glass gas filter.....looks like it is dangling in mid air and not secure.....which means when you are cruising it is moving around with every bump not to mention the wind from the fan. Could cause a fire! Other than that; happy customizing!

Look Better!

The first thing I would do if it were mine would be to clean up that intake manifold, and valve covers. Use a good detergent to get them clean. Install some wire dividers on those plug wires and re-route as necessary to maintain a cleaner look. I, too, have concerns about that glass filter. I would replace it with one of the chrome or billet units along with the fuel line. See if you can make up a custom or steel braided line from the carb to the fuel pump. Those would clean it up nicely.
Good luck!

The fuel filter definitely has to be fixed. I don't believe I didn't even think of it moving around in the wind and while the engine is going. Thanks to everyone who pointed that out. That engine bay has come a looooong way since I first got it. hopefully with a little bit more time and effort, I can have it looking nice again.

A new set of Blue Max (color blue) would go nicely with what you have done so far. Also some billeted pulleys ( polished of course) and a polished intake ( you can do this yourself if you take intake off the car). A chrome dist wire hold down would be cool. Upper rad. hose cover (chrome convoluted type), paint master cylinder and power brake booster, and SS fan with blue color mounting and fan blade bracket. Billeted alt. and AC brackets. It really looks nice right now and with your plans to organize the wiring and all should be a real eye stopper when you are done. Of course any chrome you put on the engine will give you 10 more horsepower (NOT)! see ya.

:w

The only thing I would add to what has been suggested is investing in some "COOL FLEX" radiator hose replacement. It is the chrome flex hose that most street rodders use.
It's looking good....Like we say in the racing business... to look good and go fast, it only takes CUBIC DOLLARS.
