I have a 76 with a driver side door tag that reads 64V 56L, can anyone tell me what those colors are? I have been trying to look up on the internet but no luck so far. I think the color has been changed but not sure.

Thanks for the help.:w

Thanks for the info. It is a chocolate brown now but I keep seeing yellow. I thought I read/heard somewhere that corvettes used a yellow zinc primer so thats what I thought I was seeing. :)

64V was Buckskin Vinyl, 56 was Bright Yellow - not sure what the L stands for.
Go to this site for more info on the codes for your year: http://www.rogerscorvette.com/specs/76.htm

The "L" is a carryover from the full size Chevy line, where two-tone cars were available. It means "lower".

Full size two tone cars were coded "U" for upper, and "L" for lower. Chuck

Call the Chevrolet 1800hotline and ask for a Corvette Restoration kit. You'll get a collection of GM approved Corvette restoration companies/phone numbers etc, ad a BUNCH of specifications etc for your year of vette. oh yeah - its FREE......

:D

The Chevrolet hotline, is that what you dial = 1-800-hotline? Not trying to sound stupid but...

My interior is two toned, dark brown carpet, with dark brown dash pad and dark brown steering wheel, everything else in the interior is buckskin. I am not so sure that looks very good with yellow exterior but better than blue.

;shrug
I was thinking of chaning to black interior.

okay, no, not 1-800-hotline, but whatever the 1800 number is on their website for "contact us". That is what I did - 1-800-222-1020

Yellow with saddle/beige interior is a classic combination. :) I LOVE yellow cars. Chuck

Thanks for the help and info, I will call the hotline for the restoration kit tomorrow.

this system was still in use for the 78 pace car and for the 78 silver anniversary (2 tone silver) corvettes. my pace car trim tag shows both upper (blk) and lower (silver) paint codes.
