I see a person mention that their cam is (for example) 224 581 with an lsa of 114+2.

I know what all the other numbers mean, but what's the +2 all about?

The +2 indicates that there are two degrees of ground-in advance.

You can find answers to just about any cam question over at ls1tech.com.

Ground-advance? That means something like early opening?

Yes, subtract the intake lobe centerline from the LSA to determine ground-in advance. The net result is to open the intake valves sooner, with the side effect of also decreasing piston to intake valve clearance.
