What do you do with your hardtop?

1971 Convertable (w/ hardtop)
We haven't had the hard top on our '71 for a couple of years now. It has been leaning up against the wall covered in an old bed sheet. I've thought about some sort of pulley system to store it above the Vette's spot in the garage (that way maybe I could take it off and put it on with just my wife).

Anyway, what ideas do you have?

Dan, I copied this thread here so you can get responses from other C3 owners :)

Mid-America sells exactly what you are looking for. If you want, I'll post the add for it and a description.

LIft & Store Your Hardtop Out Of Harm's Way!

Now you can remove and install your 1963-75 Corvette hardtop in minutes, plus you can actually store it overhead with this unique system. Sturdy one inch aluminum tube, covered with 1/2" thick protective foam and heavy duty straps (400 lb. test strength), cradles your hardtop without damage. Supplied pulley makes lifting a snap. Instructions and hardware included.

600-364....................Hardtop Hoist & Storage System............$159.99

I've never been to Mid-America's site (because I just go through there magazine), but I'm sure you could find this exact product (given that number) at www.madirect.com.

Good luck and I hope this is what you're looking for!! :D

I do the same thing with my hard top. I have had my car for about 4 years and the top has only moved to clean the garage. I have thought about the hoist system also.

I don't have one for my vette but I had one for a jeep wrangler that I had. That was a lifesaver, a jeep hardtop weighs several hundred lbs. I would highly recomend it, just make sure it does'nt swing much. The Corvette hardtop doesnt weigh that much.

If it's in the way ... and you're not using it ... have you considered selling it? Let me be first in line.

I have mine in my study. My wife won't let me park cars or bikes in the house (go figure), but I do get to keep the top inside.
