I have a 50TH AE and according to the 50th anniversary site there were 412 ordered exactly like mine. I would like to do some performance mods but am worried about diminishing its special value if there is one. I didnt foresee this when I ordered it but Iv'e got the bug for some more HP. I love this car but can't make up my mind if I should mess with it. :confused

Go for it.

If you were on the 50th Registry site, you'll also know that the AE was the most popular Vette in 2003 with 11,683 sold. They are beautiful and a joy to drive, but they are not rare.

You'll find several 50th Registry forum members that have modded their cars quite a lot. I'm keeping mine mostly stock - it's the wife's car anyway and she won't let me mess with it. That's okay with me as I get to mess with my old 92.

I agree with Tuna. The 50th is not that rare when one considers the numbers that were built. It is a beautiful car and upgrading the h.p. is not going to hurt its value. If it concerns you, save the stock pieces for replacement when and if you decide to sell. As a rule common performance upgrades like exhaust, intakes, etc; do little to affect value - up or down. It is when the owner gets into superchargers and the like that value is affected. My 2 cents worth.

Nitro,
Ultimately, this comes down to the question why did you get your 50th AE? If you got it as an investment, my advice would be keep it stock. If you got it because it's a Vette that happens to have some 50th Anniversary upgrades, and you plan to drive it for your own enjoyment, then my advice would be do the mods.

If it were me, I'd be more interested in making the car mine, and let the future resale value take care of itself (in the unlikely event I ever decided to sell it.)

If you have the money and the know-how, I say go for some bolt-on mods.
You can enjoy them now, and when you sell it, you can always put it back to stock if that's what the buyer wants.
