What gives?

Thats the problem with GM they are behind the others all the time lately. They blew it with the new GTO.

Also another reason you are seeing more 6cyl Stangs than 8cyl is that some interior parts that are specific for the GT were in short supply so Ford had to delay building GT's for a bit till the problem was rectified.

IMO, what kills the GTO is the price and the weight. Why is that car 3700 pounds? There shouldn't be any reason for that.

I like the looks of the interior; the power train on the GTO is world class. I'm planning on getting one later this year but it'll be a used one because I'm not going to pay $32K for that car. A lot of people aren't going to pay $32K for the GTO when they're not far off from a very nice used Corvette.

Couldn't agree more :puke The exterior styling is way weak as far as I'm concerned. I had a 69 Judge. Go Retro :beer Could be a homerun with the right styling.

I heard that GM is planning to retro a Camaro? Has anyone else heard this? If I was over GM I would retro a couple of different Vettes and put a big sticker on them along with limited production. They would sell!! I think they might need the money right now.

The project was killed due to their problems right now. Also, killed were a new rwd convert. V8 Buick and a convert. GTO.

We bought our Z28 as '02 was the last year (35th Anniversay) and we really liked the looks of it but we couldn't afford another $20-25,000+ for a new vette. We needed a new car with a warranty so we didn't have to worry about mechanical expenses for a few years. Some will argue we could have bought a used vette too but this was practicle at the time and we don't regret our decision. There are many who want a sharp sporty car but not a ricer and in the middle / reasonable dollar range and right now Mustang fits the slot nicely. You love it or hate it , period!
It's all personal preference and how bad you want it but you're right in that most people do hold the vette up to a different light than most cars. I can honestly say though I do see why once the vette fever grabs you, you're a lifer! They are amazing cars and for the most part, from the members I've met so far, so are their owners.
Safe cruising everyone and enjoy your vette or non-vette as the case may be.:upthumbs

Yeah, but they're already way behind the Mustang and the Charger so even if they got things going real fast, they'd still be too far behind to make any difference.

But what happens after the retro thing wears off after 2 or 3 years?

The Charger...
Definitely nothing retro about that look. Although Car & Driver like it, I don't.
Four doors on a Charger? :confused

Something retro (from GM & Chrysler) to compete w/ the 'stang would be cool.
If they could learn from the 'stang styling I think the retro look could really go places.

Some of the old muscle cars (2 doors) a la...SS Nova, Cuda, Challenger etc...could be great re-done.

Why don't they put some of this muscle in a light car? Hemi 2 door, not wagon or 4 door sports sedan!
