The reason why it is so difficult for Rob to allow spy shots here is simply the bully rule. If I go out and take a public picture of a C6, GM really can't take any action against me. If I post it here, they could find something to get CAC shut down if they wanted to. A large magazine like motor trend etc. has far greater pull and power than a web site, so GM can simply bully CAC around if they so choose.

Understood. However, I don't understand why GM spends time bullying a web site that reaches a such a limited group. How is GM hurt by it and why don't they spend the cost of this bullying on improving the icon?

We are both in the same very confused boat there... it seems like they have power and feel obligated to use it (kinda like me behind the wheel of my Corvette?) anyway, who knows what GM is thinking... after all, this is the same company that came out with a very bland 50th Corvette :confused

... and popped it back into the microwave with some blue paint to re-warm it for a final Commemorative Edition C5!

Uncle.

The new Boxter S has a great look and feel, not to mention the 911. I guess I have been and always will be a Corvette guy at heart, but Chevy is letting me down. Bigtime.

I've been a proud member of this forum, and loved every minute of it. More so, I love driving my Corvette. 6 years ago, it was state of the art. Unbelievably, they have changed very little since '97.

While the Corvette is getting a new hood and suspension tweaks for 2004, other manufacturers are adding horsepower, dramatic designs, and NOT giving their chassis (XLR) and engines (CTS-V) to Cadillac.

I'm not going to pull the trigger yet, but it looks like they really botched the comemorative C5. Hopefully, they don't equally miss their chance with the C6. If they do, I'm out. I'll buy from a company who respects driving enthusiasts.

Sadly,
Greg

Greg,

Don't bail on Covette yet. I can think of many worst things than having to drive your "old" C5 vette one more year until the C6 arrives ... and it WILL be a hit. For example after 118,000 mi I'm getting tired of patching up my C4, but I'm not going to move my glovebox contents into anything but a C6.

Greg, so well written and to the point. I agree regarding GM, if they blow it on the C6 I will take my money elsewhere. I was so disappointed with the 50th anniversary and the CE has done nothing else to fix that. If the C6 is a warmed over C5, I am done with Chevy. Also Rob does and excellent job running this site and he can place or takeoff whatever he pleases.

Well, apparently Jim Dunne has come through again with the first C6 spy shots so they should show up everywhere soon.

As to the posting of spy shots on the forum, I understood that if the shots were taken on a public road or at any public place off of private property they were fair game.

GM could complain but if its not on private property they really can't say anything except they were busted.

I can understand why GM needs to keep their designs out of the hands of the public and the competition XXX for as long as possible. They spend a lot of time and money to bring their customers new and innovative ideas. If their competitors can "steal" those ideas and implement them into their products without the research time and cost GM suffers and the new idea is now old. Even the looks of a product can be used and if the competitor hits the market first with those looks GM suffers with the "They (GM) copied the XXX design." I do a lot of R&D work and the name of the game is to offer something the competition does not, and to hit the market with the new approach without their being able to incorporate the approach into their design sooner.
