what is a campaign number?

On the drivers side inner fender of my '99 Corvette, there is a sticker that has a campaign number on it. What is this? Is it something to do with the dealer selling the car?

Sounds like one of the recall campaigns was performed. The dealer is required to afix the sticker to show that the work was performed on the vehicle in accordance with the campaign instructions.
Is there a campaign number you could post? Also, I think up in the knowledge base the different recall campaigns are listed. You might find your answer in there.

when it is determined that there is a possible hazard or liability problem it is given a number by the mfg so they can track repairs .some of these are uncle sam mandated others are good will by the mfg.hope this helps Steve

Thanks for the input vettepilot and Steve. I looked in the knowledge base but those numbers are too long compaired to mine. Mine is hand written on the tag and it only has 5 digits.
I can't make it out ; 000?? The dealer number is easier to read;17513. I was just wondering about this tag , thanks for your answers. Jack
