The "service engine soon" light came on an hour after I left the Illinois emssions test facility (and I passed) with my 86 coupe. Lucky, I guess.

Anyway, I was told that t he code 32 is the EGR valve, which is a real pain to get to. Is thate anything else that might trigger this code??? Thanks

Code 32 is EGR, usually its the solenoid/switch. That sits where the pipe runs into the intake manifold, at the back of the plenum.
Either that or the pipe is plugged, since you passed emissions I doubt its the pipe.

You can replace the solenoid/switch or ignore it until your next emissions test. Code 32 doesnt affect the performance of the engine, EGR doesnt work at Wide open throttle.

I get one on really hot days, i ignore it.

Thanks for the reply....I noticed that mine only comes on when it is really hot and I have driven quite a few miles....when I turn of the engine, the light stays out until the next hot day and lots of miles...weird, huh???

Code 32

Mid-America has a kit that's supposed to fix that code 32 problem. I get that code after about 15 minutes on the Interstate and have bought the kit but haven't had the time to install it. This is on an '86E

Isn't that the EGR switch that sells for about $19??? I saw that in their catalog and was thinking about trying it...let me know if it works....thanks
