Hey all--
My '78 has an interesting problem. Say I have a passenger and they use the passenger-side door (logically). We will be driving down the road, then you hear a loud POP from the passenger's side door. It almost sounds like the door mechanism locking around the post, but if that didn't happen when you shut the door in the first place, shouldn't I be able to just push the door open? The door is always secruely shut. It is probably something else, but I would appreciate any input as it is quite annoying!

Yeah, the power window works, at least most of the time. I have yet to take off that door panel, but if I ever get around to getting the stereo put in, I will be removing both panels to coat the innards with sound deadener. I will have to take a look. Thanks!

Like Bob said I would suspect the spring on the regulator. Mine popped on the drivers side, the window goes up slow but comes down real fast.

I have that same problem on my passenger side. No popping sound, though. It's so far down on the list that I haven't looked into it, yet. When I open the door again to fix the lock, I'll have to check the springs.

Do you have PDL's? Maybe the solenoid is being tripped?

Could be the "S" spring inside the door hinge snaping in or out of its groove.

No PDL's, but it sounds like it is coming from the back of the door (near the striker). I will try to take a look at it when I get back home. Thanks all!
