It matters on your rim size (15x7 or 15x8) also but a 245/60/15 is the norm without tire rub..

Thanks. I wasnt real clear in my question. 8 inch rims but they don’t have to be the same size all tge way around. I was wanting to do 255 in the back if they will fit.

A 255 will fit in the back...

I put Cooper Cobra 255's all around on my 77, and they fit with no rubbing. 77 has the same wheel well as 78 on up which offered 255 60's as a factory option. I was still skeptical about clearance, so the tire dealer said he would change them back to 225's if I had any rubbing, which I had none. 245's would probably work, and in my opinion they look better than 225's.

Just put on new 235/60/15's, look great running 30 lbs. in them. nice ride in a 77.
