What is the correct voltage regulator for a 67 sb with air?

I have a 67 327/300 sb with air and a 1100750 62 amp alternator that is stock for this application. I am trying to find out if the 1119515 voltage regulator is the correct application for the 62 amp system. I wanted to upgrade to an electronic vr, specifically the wells vr715, but in the description from autozone it says "all except 62amp" sort of confusing as I do not know if GM used a different vr for the 62 amp alternator in 1967. Anyone have an answer or an application that works? thank you in advance for the great advice given in this forum, vinny

I can see how you are confused on this. I looked in my old 1972 GM parts book and they don't list one for the 62 amp. They list the 1119515 for all 63/64 and 65/66 Special high performance w A/C or transistor ignition. The Corvette parts houses list the 515 for all 63-68 applications. I don't know why there is no GM listing for any 67 or 68 or for the 62 amp.

It could be that the 515 was used to replace all and my book didn't get the change yet. Is your old one the original and does it have any numbers on it? We may have to wait for John to chime in on this one.

As I noted in my PM response to Vinny, the 515 regulator (which is dated) was used on all '67 small-blocks, regardless of the alternator amp rating. There was no 62-amp alternator in '67 - A/C cars got a 55-amp or 61-amp unit without T.I., and a 61-amp unit with T.I.

The Wells VR715 solid-state regulator will work fine and is a plug-and-play install, but it's not correct for judging.

Thanks john, I think this was a typo on my part...no 62 amp this is a 61 amp and I currently have a knock off vr. the 1119515 is the one...thank you, vinny
