74 Corvette Conv. Iam going to lift the body off the chassis. Seems the best way to detail everything. What manuals are best? Assembly manuals? What manual shows me the proper colors on the parts in the engine compartment and body parts? Thanks Ralph

Hello,
NJ welcome from Point Pleasant.

I have a Midamerica assembly manual for my 66 that has come in handy.
The assembly manual has most everything labeled in sections. Try Midamerica Corvettes, other suppliers will have some version as well.

First off: my advice is not to take the car off the frame if not absolutely necessary. You can clean and restore a lot more than you might think with the body on the frame.

If you are considering a frame off restoration, purchase two or three of the restoration books and read how others have done it. Be aware some of these books are better than others. None of them will be a complete compilation of everything necessary for a frame off restoration. There is no single printed source for that.

You will want your 74 owner's manual; the assembly instruction manual (AIM); the GM chassis service manual.

If you have body work to do, you will want a couple of the Corvette fiberglass How-To books.

For photo references, Dr. Dobbins' book has good pix.

For correct factory finishes, the National Corvette Restorer's Society 1974 Technincal Information Manual will have a list of them.

Good luck.
