2nd night with the car but just had to try it. I got a 14.1 @105.9 mph (via G-tech pro). I really think I should be able to get her in the 13's easy if I just knew how to drive her (my first six speed)
First question. What rpm do you LT1 guys launch at?
Second question. ASR on or off for better performance???
Thank you so much for feedback, I just want to make sure I keep those Ford guys in their place (now the 03 Cobra is another story). :D

Hi,

Congrats on the car. Can't answer your question about what RPM to launch at but the ASR should be turned off.

JTB,

Edmond is correct, ASR should be turned off for an optimum 1/4 mile run.

You’ll have to experiment with different engine speeds and techniques. There are numerous factors in getting a good 1/4 mile run. I had two LT1’s, a ‘93 and a ‘94, both six-speed coupes, (never ran the ’93 it was a show car). The ‘94 however would run 13.6’s at 103 and some change, religiously — I’m at 890 ft elevation. Ran it with the stock Goodyear Eagle GS-Cs, had 30 psi at all four corners. I never went through the waterbox with them, I took the advice from others that it wasn’t necessary to visit the waterbox with the GS-Cs.

I would launch at around 1,100 to 1,200 rpm, this netted 13.6’s, car was stock except for a K&N filter in the stock airfilter housing.

The best thing to do is get to the track and practice, get familiar with your car in that environment, get familiar with your local track and you’ll be in the 13s easily.

JTB, keep in mind that grip at the Gainesville Raceway is much, much better than the grip on the street. That track is always well prepared. I've seen stock LT1's run mid 13's and stock LT4's and LS1's run in the low 13's. I'd be willing to bet a six-pack that after a couple runs you would be well into the 13's. I don't have any plans to go to the track until the summer heat and this constant rain hit the road, but maybe we can hook up and go to a test and tune night when it cools off a bit and I get a better feel for the car that hopefully will be in my garage by Sunday night...:D

BTW, no sandbagging for that six-pack...

Hi
Good luck with your new toy.

As far as launching your vette, be careful that you pick cars that you can easily beat. By next summer most of the new ricers will blow your doors off without trying.

And look out for the new CTS (V), with 400hp-0-60 in 4.3 secs.

Within a year the performance value of all of our C4s&C5s will drop like a rock except a ZR-1 and the 06.

A caddy doing 0-60 in 4.3 secs with an excellent write up, leaves me to believe that the C6 will be at least 400hp.

Uhhh, do I dare ask which "ricers" will destroy us without even trying....a 600 hp single turbo Supra-yes, a mitsu evo and a wrx sti-yes if and only if they launch perfectly (~5500 rpm from what I have heard) the highway race may be a different story, and srt-4-maybe but doubtful. My point is I don't think most new"ricers" are quite able to blow our doors off yet unless they are pushing MAJOR boost. I still would take a naturally aspirated 350 ci over a 4 cyl with boost. Just my .02:cool

That's why I propose that they make mods such as the Mini-ram cheaper so we can all upgrade!:L:L
