Last night I was passing through my town which is relativly small (2000 people or so) and parked behind a small restaraunt a vette caught my eye. I drove around the block to check it closer and I'm glad I did. It was one of the nicest looking vettes I've seen that wasn't in a museum or show. What I'm trying to figure out is what year was it. For starts, it was a C2. That was obvious. It was painted black with the red stripe down it. It had the hood that was used with the big blocks and had the 427 emblem on which means it was at least a 66 or 67. Right? It didn't have any side-pipes. It did have redline tires. And im curious as to what the different wheel options were for 66 and 67 because I do remember what the wheels looked like. Maybe some of you C2 owners will be able to figure out what year it was with some of that info.

Yes. Thats how the hood looked. Excpet that paint was black with the stripe being red.

I was also thinking 67 beacause I think the model center here at the CAC said that the red line tires were options only in 67. But how do you know its a L-71? Was that paint scheme only avalible with that motor or.... what?

Frankly it's a guess as to what you saw. The L-88 was a very low production engine in '67 with only 20 made. It could also be an L-36 or an L-68 engine but I wouldn't know which.

Check with 67HEAVEN for EVERYTHING you could need to know about this subject.

midyear, Yes! Except the only difference was, the one I saw didn't have the seide pipes.

Could have also been a 64-6 with a 67 BB hood, but I agree that most likely it was a 67.
