What's a '74 engine worth?

I replaced the engine in a '74 I was restoring years ago, and I have given up hope of the current owner ever calling me. What is a complete engine, including intake and exhaust manifolds worth? It had never been rebuilt, but would need at least a ring job. Base engine, all # are correct.

Does the L48 base engine have major miles on it? I would guess if you got somewhere between 800 and 1k for it that you did pretty good.

Yes, it has over 100K, but was running fine and compression check wasn't all that bad. I would break my arm grabbing an offer as you mentioned. I was going to ask the owner of the car this came out of about $650.....
