Ok heres the deal. Some kid with a 2002 4.7L chevy single cab truck wants to race my 77 corvette. So far the vette is stock and has been kept in shape and in tune. Ive got about 1000$ ready to spend on it so what would be the best thing to do. Can this truck beat me? Thanks for the Help !!!

All you need is a holley 600 cfm,and a edelbrock 2101 intake,
good plug's and wire's, and good gas. When i first got my 81
it was a dog, those were the first item's i put on,when i got the car. Only thing I could not keep up with was the mustangGT.
A good 100 shot will work fine without all the changes to.
good luck.

Step ONE
Well, You should know what this guy has done to his truck. If it's got a modified TPI and a Paxton it could be pretty quick. Know your enemy first!!! Then work on winning.

If you are running a BB don't worry about it. If you have a SB and are not sure abouteating him alive go back to Step ONE.

GOOD LUCK

Maybe it's just me, but why not race him as-is, and see what happens, then have a re-match?

On the other hand, I think you need to know what he has, before you can figure out what you'll be able to do against him.

And, do you have a stick or an auto?

Hello Hello Hello Thanks for the help. This truck is just stock with a K&N and it is also a 4x4. The corvette is a automatic. Thanks for the HELP!

NappyRacer, for what it's worth; Tonight @ Pittsburgh Raceway Park, I saw a guy with a bone-stock, 45k-mile '80/4spd Vette. On a fairly warm night, he went 15.30 @ 90+ MPH w/o speed-shifting. He says he DID, however 'rev-it-up' on the line (his words), but it STILL hooked, even on 'hard' BFG 255/60 TA Radials. I'd think a '77 is a better runner than an '80 (all things being equal, or stock). Now, put that hay-bailer in it's place!!!!!

:eek What!! I didn't know a stock C3 could pull in that kind of time. That's really impressive!! I guess it all depends on the driver too, huh. :)

Stallion, don't know just 'how-much' was the driver; guy was MORE worried about breaking his '80 than setting Low ET of the Meet! As for 'impressive', a buddy had a bone-stock 26k mile '77 L82/THM400 (since swapped for a '99 LS1). Previous owner had put on headers & side-pipes ONLY. Car ran like a raped-ape! Woulda EASILY run 14's, probably 14.50s @ near 100 MPH. 20+ years ago, my Z28 ran 14.40s @ 97; his L82 ran like that, only better on top-end (lighter weight?). Now, his '99 LS1, on the other hand,..........;worship :Steer :BOW :_rock

Man you guys are the best. I been on many forums and you reply quick ITS REAL NICE. I ordered heddman headers a edlebroke performer intake and a K&N!. I hope this helps it out. Ill get some pictures on here as soon as i can so u can see it. THanks AGAIN!

Check out the Model Center. 15.3 is not totally out-of-line with the 1980 performance specs.

NappyRacer's should expect mid 16's from his 1977, before making any modifications.

You could expect mid or high 15's from your '78 4-speed, I think, Stallion.
