Have a 1992 six speed with 96 grand on it, blew the engine and its time to replace, any and all suggestions welcome. I been told every thing from a Jasper reman... to a ZZ4, let me know.

What is your budget ?
What use is it going to have?
Can you work on engine yourself or have to pay a shop to do it?

You have a LT1 .
Unless you want to change computer/ wiring or run a carb you need to replace with same type
Plenty of choices ; given the minimal cost difference over a rebuilt 350, 383 recommended

1992+ Camaro/Vette/Impala SS "LT1" 383 stroker motor.: eBay Motors (item 110583777317 end time Oct-08-10 07:54:24 PDT)

Yep...
a 383 is a good place to begin. Then the affordable add-on stuff...like some good valves, springs & rockers. Internals like rods & pistons get pricey pretty fast. Stock type pistons will do when forged are'nt in the budget..This way it'll be fine for most street applications. The stuff in the heads gets you some more performance and better response. Intakes, Headers, and the exhaust. There is always NoX...but I'd hold out for the forged crank, rods and pistons to go bottle blown and actually enjoy it

I was'nt keeping count but I think thats about $15,000 worth of motor. Well, Maybe $20,000 :beer

Just go slow, get/build a solid block with the best internals you can get, and the bolt on stuff can come when money is available. :w

The further you venture from a stock rebuild, the more time, effort, and money it will take to complete a reliable setup.

Like has been mentioned, utilizing the existing wireing harness, and electronics is a great start. There are proven setups that will work well with what you have.

All depends on your budget!! IF I had unlimited funds a all forged no expense spared 396 stroker topped off with a Blowerworks Supercharger Kit. That should give me enough stuff to run with ZR1's or more!:beer
Remember everything is better when its blown. You could go with a nitrous setup too that would be cool. "In case of Turbo, push button."

Pulled the trigger!!!

Thanks to all for the comments. I have decided to go with a Jasper reman. LT1, 3yrs, 100,000 miles waranty, thought about a 383 stroker but warranty went to 6 months, 8000 miles, added Melrose headers, and Borla cat-back exhaust. Kept the old engine, lost my core, but plan to rebuild it slowly and over time, in 20 years ( with the original engine back in it) might still be a numbers matching, pure original Corvette.

OMG!!! I know of several people with Jasper stuff that didn't get dip when they needed a warranty rebuild. The only way I would have a Jasper anything is if I was selling the car.

I would have said you needed to call Brian Ebert at HiTechmotorsport.
