Last Oct I bought my first C5, MY great car excellent shape-except the wheels-original Y2K. The aluminum shows some pitting from old weights and black on the inside from brake dust/crud-how can I clean these things without screwing up the clear coat?

It will be a lot easier if you have a lift or if you can remove the wheels to clean. Once they're cleaned, it will be a lot easier to maintain.

I'd first attack them with plain soap and water before progressing to something more aggressive.
