I have a 66 coupe with 215/15/70s in front and 225/15/70s rear. The rear wells have been trimed about 1/2".

I would like to put some American Racing mags on the car with these tires.

What wheel sizes will fit? Will 15X7s with 3.75" back spacing fit in front? Will 15X8.5 with 3.5" back spacing fit in the rear? Will 15X8 with 4" back spacing fit in the rear?

Thanks for the help

I don't think anyone's an expert in this area, a lot depends on the particular tires & wheels. As a general rule, 7 inch rims with a 4" to 4.5" backspace will likely work (stock wheels are 5.5" or 6") , assuming they clear the calipers. Beyond that you're very likely to have to go to offset trailing arms. and shave fiberglass.

In the May 2003 issue of Corvette Fever there is a good article on installing new wheels on a 66 convertible. It's a great article. If you can't get your hands on a copy, email me your fax number and I'll make copies and fax it to you....
