A few questions - what would be the easiest way to get a better sound out of my C5 exhaust without spending all the money on a complete exhaust package? I was thinking of just replacing the stock mufflers with flowmaster mufflers. Any thoughts??

Also - wondering if anyone has experimented with caliper paint. I am really itching to paint my calipers red, but the epoxy doesn't look to easy to work with and am worried about screwing it up. Also talked to a guy at a recent ride in and he painted his calipers with regular paint. Not special heat paint or anything and they looked good. I am thinking this would be easier to get in and out of the letters on the calipers....

Finally - anyone know of any good corvette activities coming up in the Dayton, OH area??

Have a great week,
Chris

calipers/exhaust

Most of the exhaust systems are just mufflers and pipes. The Corsa systems seem to give a nice sound without being too loud in side the car. Lot of them perform well, but you can't hear yourself think inside!
Calipers on most street driven cars don't get hot enough to need special paint. Even if you do a LOT of autocross type stuff, normal "hi-temp" should be sufficient.
Good luck!

I have a '96 Collector Edition (which comes with the Grand sport brakes, similar to the C5 brakes) and I used rustoleum, painted on with a small brush... they look great.... I gave up on the idea of painting around the letters... I painted over them, and bought a silver paint marker (you can get it in the Wal mart crafts section) and painted the letters over the red.

Calipers

Easy way is to paint them, and use a lint free rag with laquer thinner to remove paint from the letters while it is still reasonably fresh. Works well!

when i painted over the letters on my calipers, i merely started wiping them of while paint was still tacky. worked like a charm.

Corsa's a nice setup. But its not your only option. Theres B&B, Dynomax, Flowmaster, Spintech, Bassani, Poorla (Borla) Magnaflow....all kinds of places.

Mufflex has systems for the C5 that use i believe between 2.5-4" mandrel bent tubing using either spintech or flowmaster mufflers. Lots of Fbody guys w/ Mufflex love it, and wont recommend anything else. Corsa on a C5 is very quiet @ idle, and can scream @ WOT, but im a flowmaster guy so thats what i'd get lol. Either way, i dont think you can go wrong. I say go w/ flows, but eventually its your $$$$ and your decision, so do whatever makes you happy :D
