So much heat comes from the engine and my sisters husband told me about kits you get that go between the engien and dash that will stop most of the heat, where do I get one? Also if possible not from a corvette site because it costs less if I just use a normal heat matt instead of one made for a "corvette". I dont want the matts that go up under the carpet but the one that clips somewhere between the engine and dash. I did find one thing but does not include the clips to clip it on.

Bender, go to lowe's and buy the roll of aluminum heat barrier. it's about $15 per roll. to really cut down on noise and heat you'll want to remove the carpets and the center console. put the barriers in all locations. it will make a difference

check with bobchad,i believe he has a link in his sig that will help you out with what you are looking for...I know ill be using it as soon as my vette gets out of the body shop!!!!!

Bender,

I'm not sure what you are trying to do here. Do you want heat shield to place in the engine compartment on the firewall? You may have a difficult time getting the look that you want with this approach.

Pretty much anything you put inside the car will require removal of the interior to a certain extent. Carpets for the floorboards, dash and ventilation system for the firewall.

I used Reflectix that I bought at Lowes.

It has foil backing on both sides of some insulating material and did a pretty good job for relatively little money, at least compared with the kits. That stuff you had linked looks fairly thick and bulky. This Reflectix is thin and easy to work with.

I just had carpet put in about a month ago so I am looking to put it on the firewall.

In the engine compartment? Between the firewall and engine.

I would but a roll of this stuff and see if you can paint it black. Otherwise it will be awfully shiny.

Some 3M super, v. standard, adhesive should be able to hold it in place.

There's also the issue of hot coolant continuously circulating through heater core ... many install a hardware store shutoff valve in one or both heater hoses. I know there's some differences between C3's as how the OE controls regulate this ... some not at all ... seems some models don't have an OE shutoff at all. It sure helped with my 71 in warm-hot months ... I use one $4 brass valve.
