Where to buy automotive

I'm in a bad situation and had to pull my car from one painter and take it to another shop. Do any of you have any idea where to get a good price on DuPont automotive paint products?

Need more information. I was under the impression that your paint job was finished. Are you taking your Vette to a paint shop that doesn't know where to get paint? That doesn't sound right to me.

Very Very long story WishUWereHere82... It was almost finish 3 times. The guy kept screwing up. I kept giving him the benefit of the doubt. What can I say... I give ppl enough rope to hang themselves. I'm actually going to take the last painter to court to attempt to recover 3K of my money.

The other painter has basically given me two quotes... one with paint supplied by him... one with the paint supplied by me. It's on the up and up. I'm just trying to see if I can save some bucks. I'm just a little gun shy right now.

Have you had dealings with each of these places, or did you just pull it from some phone list?

I'm looking for a place that has good prices. I'm trying to save a little time rather by not having to call every paint supplier in the phone book.

I just did a search for auto paint supplies in the Houston area.

You might try logging into Dupont's website and do a search for suppliers in your area. Usually your jobber can get his supplies for wholesale price.
That's too bad to hear about your problem with the painter, it does happen more often these days. I am fortunate to live in an area where most of the great painters are well known. Unfortunately, they are very expensive, very selective and booked for years in advance.

IMHO...if you provide the pait to the new painter...and anything screws up...he has an automatic out...if he provides the paint...its all on his shoulders.

True JonM. I'll keep that in mind. I'm just seeing if the price difference the new painter is giving me ($700 between me providing or him providing) is nominal.

Thats not a bad price (depending how many coats he is putting on) That stuff isn't cheap.

The best I could do on pricing today is about $600 for base, candy, clear, sealer, & activator. I'm just going to let them deal with it. What's an extra $100 at this point, right?!?

Two weeks from today, I should see the final results.
