I have looked everywhere. AutoZone, Pep Boys, Wal-Mart, Sears, Harbor Frieght, O'Riely's and can not find a torque wrench in the 15 in-lbs. class. I need to torque my 1981 automatic Half Shaft straps down, I replaced my U-Joints. Where can I buy one of these?

Should I just buy a ft-lb and convert my in-lbs to ft?

double check Auto Zone, I seen one there that I wanted to pick up last week for $20...

You are right, it is 15 ft-lbs. How did I over look that, and to think I waisted good driving time looking for an inch-lb torque wrench.

Thanks for the correction, I found plenty of good ft-lb torque wrenches during my quest for an in-lb. Will pick one up tommorrow and get to driving.

Thanks,

The only inch/# specs on a Vette that I can recall are for the preload on the pinion crush sleeve in the diff. (10"/# seems to be stuck in my head for some reason).

I have the Snap-On wrench, it's beauty, but $$$ as others have noted. Definitely a specialty limited use tool.

Glad you got the correct torque spec figured out ok.

Technically torque is measured in oz-in or lb-ft (or nw/m for the Metrically inclined). The oz-in ratings are almost always for very small size hdwr. Some No.4, mostly No. 2 or smaller stuff. I spec that torque ratings a lot in electrical hdwr assemblies. Sears does sell a nice oz-in wrench (and the lifetime warranty can't be beat) and Snap-On has anything you need.

Good Luck in your search ............ Nut

Sears has them for both foot lbs and inch lbs.
check your specs....ask at the store.
