Hello,

My friends 86 convertible has a problem. The hi speed of the blower motor wasn't working so we switched the relay for another one. Everything was perfect till we hit the hi speed.
Go some smoke comming from the relay and the blower motor stopped working in every speed.

So we looked in the shop manual to see where the blower motor fuse is. It should be next to the blower relay in front of the firewall. Well, it isn't there and as far as I can see no trace of it in the last part of the wiring harness (can see it any more when it goes under the engine next to the starter). Btw, this is a car with A/C.

My question, can anybody tell me where we can find the 5 amps fuse for the blower motor?

Greetings Peter

On my cars ,there is a inline fuse in a blk plastic weatherpak holder mounted to one of the screws holding the blower motor to the housing

should be down there around the a/c evap core or heater core. In fact, it was mounted near the heater core. Its probably fallen down in there somewhere and needs to be dug out. Right around the blower under the hood...its there. somewhere. Near the washer bottle perhaps?

We found the fuse. This one is the fuse for the higher blower speeds and is the normal 25ohm AC fuse. In the wiring diagram it looks like only the low blower speed gets power through the inline fuse somewhere around the blower motor.

We also found the problem why the fuse had blown. I put my 81 relay in this 86. Everything looked the same except that the orange (hi speed) wire has switched from the front to the back of the relay between 81 and the 86 one. Yes that is what you get if you first try and after that begin to think and jump into the wiring diagrams. :ugh

After some extra testing got the new relais in place and everything is working like it should! :)

Greetings Peter
