I have an 88 Vette with the L98 motor. Which spark plugs are best suited for this engine? I am assuming that the L98 has Aluminum heads.... Didn't all L98's in Vettes have Aluminum heads?

I am an Ex-Ford 5.0L man... I new the Ford 5.0 inside out. Now I have to get used to the Chevy end of things again....

Thanks in Advance.

Spark Plugs

I have an 85 L98 and I was told to only use Bosch Platinum plugs. They have the right gap, etc. for the engine. Had the Platinum+4 and had misfiring problems.

The guy I talked to said that they are more expensive and are known to give L98's probs. Put in the standard platinums, and they worked great. Been using those type plugs for the last 3 years, no probs.

Hope I've been of some help! :beer

For what it's worth, I have been told that it is best to use AC spark plugs. The reasoning was that other spark plug brands use a single plug for many GM vehicles/motors. In contrast AC plugs are more specific and custom taylored to your particular car/motor.

I used AC delco Rapid Fires in my 91 L98. I was able to run 13.8 in the 1/4. Never had idle or max rpm issues and I got good gas mileage. So I consider it a good choice.

I use the +4's with no problems. I've had em' in for a year and everything is fine.

Spark Plugs

I have a Corvette Mechanic here in Australia who swears by NGK Iridium plugs.
Apparently, they are self cleaning and last for around 100000 kms or 75000 miles.
He said that Mitsubishi put them in their East/ West V6 engines on the 'hard to get side', so they don't have to replace them as often.
They are however, a lot more expensive but if you are like me, nothing is too good for your baby!

I am going to take the plunge and put them in after the old NGK's wear out!

Cheers from Oz!

I run with AC Delco. Never a problem:cool 90K and running strong.
